No Vaccine, No Serving Our Country

The Army has made the final decision that if active service members do not receive to COVID-19 vaccine, they will be immediately dismissed. Army is the final military wing to make the decision to let go members who refuse the vaccine. The Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force have already dismissed members who have not received the vaccine.

There is roughly around 3,300 active members of the Army who have not been fully vaccinated. The Army has already sent out written notices to about 3,000 of the unvaccinated personnels saying they need to immediately receive the vaccine or they will be let go. This news has trickled down from the Pentagon as they say getting the vaccine is critical when it comes to the health and safety of the force.

On the other hand, there have been approximately 3,000 members who have requested medical or religious exemptions.

Army Secretary Christine Wormuth said, "Unvaccinated soldiers present risk to the force and jeopardize readiness."

The coronavirus has been around for nearly two years. It has been a hot topic of conversation on whether vaccines should be mandated or not. This conversation has been politicized more than it should. The far left seems to lean more towards mandates, and the far right seems to be against forcing any type of mandates.

Multiple federal courts have voted against President Biden's mandates against corporations and companies mandating the vaccine for their employees, but now it is an issue for our active service members. This issue has been a hot topic since the vaccine made its way into the world. Some service members think it is a good idea, while others believe they should not be forced to take the vaccine.

Is this a smart idea for the Army? Even with many soldiers being moved into Russia? Will this cause even more of a divide?

  1. Hello!

This is such an eye opening post. I was not aware of the fact that service members had been let go because of the mandates as the conversation about mandates still seemed to be going on. I do understand the motive behind the mandate since the military requires vaccinations are given at basic training. I believe that there will some ramifications to the decision made by the government to release the members but overall they do not consider the loss too be too large as I'm sure they would have dropped the bad if the military was left with weakened populations. I wonder if there will be any changes to the policy in the future to accommodate those that have chosen not to not receive the vaccine. This is a great post.

  2. This post makes me sick to think that people are losing their rights to fight in the war and defend this country because.... of a ....vaccine? This country has repeatedly forced individuals to be drafted in the past, yet now refuses to let these people fight because they refuse to be injected with a very suspicious vaccine? The agenda in this country is just really disturbing at this point, and if the government actually cared about our safety as a whole, this would not make or break ones right to step up and defend our country and keep us all safe. This post is great and does a wonderful job explaining the entire problem at hand, which is not those who are fighting for their rights, but a government trying to take them all away.
