Should Kids Be Taught This While They're This Young?
We are an opinionated society. We all have differences about everything.
When it comes to what children are learning, it has become a bigger polarizing issue.
Democrats believe that children as young as elementary school so learn certain topics about racism and sexism by their teachers. Republicans believe that that should not happen, and it should be up to the parents if they want to teach their children about those topics.
Children brains are still forming during these years. They are learning math, science, and history, so it is crucial for them to know this topics?
On the other hand, children need to be able to learn they can choose how they want to live their lives. Should they be taught to think freely from a young age?
This is a very huge topic, and has caused a lot of tension with both parties in Washington D.C.
What is your view on this?

I feel like the reality of this situation is that the reason why many people want this to be left up to the parents is because their generation did not have to learn about racism and sexism at that age, so they think well if we didn't and we turned out fine in their eyes, then why should my children have to. However, if we want the next generation to be better than the last, then some things need to change in the education system. I'm not in the education field, so I have no clue on what the best way to implement that kind of teaching into the classroom, but I do feel that kids should be exposed to different views when they are young, so they can form their own views on the issue.
