The Slap Heard Around the World

Image
Anyone with any type of social media saw it explode Sunday night as actor Will Smith slapped actor and comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars.  Rock said a joke about Smith's wife Jada Smith being the next GI-Jane because she is bald. What Rock confesses to not knowing is that Jada actually has a medical condition alopecia which can cause baldness.  "Jada, I love you, G.I. Jane 2, can't wait to see it." Rock said. In the broadcast, you see the camera cut straight to Will and Jada Smith immediately after Rock said the joke. You clearly see two different reactions from the couple. Will is laughing will Jada rolls her eyes and looks annoyed.  The camera then cuts back to Rock on stage. It was not less than ten seconds later Will was marching up to confront him, and then he slaps him. Social media fell off the rails Sunday night and continues to three days later. Rock has seen then apologized for the joke and Smith for slapping him, but people want to know more. Was it stage...

Silencing the Media in Russia

Image
A court in Moscow banned Meta Platforms such as Facebook and Instagram on Monday from what they call 'extremist activity.' The courts are accusing these social media platforms of "ignoring government requests to remove what they described as fake news about Russian military actions in Ukraine and calls for anti-war protests in Russia." Along with the shutdown and ban of these social media platforms, the Russian authorities have shut off access websites such as BBC, the U.S. government-funded Voice of America and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, German broadcaster Deutsche Welle and Lativa-based website Meduza. When is enough, enough? The government control in Russia is becoming outrageous with the now control of the media that their citizens can take in and watch.  The Russian government is using their platform to silence the truth from it's citizens and to keep them oblivious to things going on in the outside world. When do you think the Russian citizens will ha...

Looks Like No Trump 2024

Image
Former President Donald Trump has been teasing since he lost the presidency in 2020 that he would run for reelection in 2024. This has made some of the Republican Party happy, while others are just begging for someone new.  One of the Democratic super PAC's are "filling a formal complaint with the Federal Election Commission accusing Donald J. Trump of violating campaign finance law by spending political funds on a 2024 presidential bid without formally declaring himself a candidate."  Federal laws do require candidates who raise or spend more than $5,000 in support of a presidential campaign must register with the Federal Election Commission, and I bet Trump has spent more than that. Many Republicans are worried if Trump is serious about his plan for reelection in 2024. Senator Mitch McConnell and a band of anti-Trump Republicans are maneuvering to thwart the ex-president.  Even though as of right now, Trump is the most powerful person in the Republican Party, it i...

CNN Inside Ukraine

The attacks that Russia has had on Ukraine in the past few weeks have left the rest of the world on the world heart broken as Putin has sent in troops and multiple airstrikes into their country. We have heard of multiple horrible deaths that have occurred in the past few weeks as innocent lives from Ukraine are being taken away because of an evil man's plan to take over the country. We have seen all over social media and the television the hundreds of thousands of civilians crowding in underground subway stations that are now being used for bomb shelters. CNN reporter Clarissa Ward is in all on the action in Ukraine as she has been in these shelters with the civilians the past few weeks. Ward interrupted her live TV report on Ukrainian refugees to help a older man and a woman down a steep path all while she was speaking their native language.  "People are so exhausted, they can barely walk," Ward told viewers. "It's just an awful, awful scene. And they're th...
